(Below, is commentary from our main blogger, Denise Wilson. She is an inspiring writer, in the process of publishing novels in the future. Here she will give you tips on how to write that perfect story.)
How do you write a good story?
Always take your time and get it right, like any other skill.
Every author is different at what they do.
First, you should gather your thoughts and brainstorm about them.
Next, create an interesting title that stands out.
Make it controversial and different, so it would be able to catch the reader’s eye and persuade them to pick it up and read your novel.
Develop your characters. Tell how they look, act, talk. Make them alive.
Being them to life. As if people can actually see them, hear them, feel them.
The characters should be like real people.
Develop your story. Create a plot.
Make it as if this can actually happen in real life.
Who’s who, what, when, where, why, how, in the story. Who is the main character?
What is the problem or problems that the protagonist (Main character) is having?
Who is the antagonist? Why is this person or thing against the protagonist?
What happened in the story for it to get to this point?
Can the events that takes place in the novel be solved?
The circumstances that build up or arise in the novel is called the climax.
Finally, at the end, you sould give the reader a feeling of satisfaction that this story was worth reading.
That everything is solved.
The characters are living better lives.
Maybe even better than before the situations took place.
By completing these steps, then you will have a good novel that people may want to read.
Not all stories follow this rule but most that are successful do.
You should persuade your audience to want to read another one of your novels again.
